I love the way this article starts off:
The faster a computer goes, the more likely is to have Linux at its heart.

The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second rule is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.- Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft
I certainly learned the truth about this in the past couple weeks.
What kind of organization charges more money for an older product to get you to use the newer version? Honestly, have you ever heard something so absurd? The only time I’ve ever heard about that is if the item is rare or antique.
Microsoft charges for downgrades to Windows XP to force users to use their crappy Windows Vista OS.
There is a big push in the computing industry for systems that consume less power. Some recent tests reveal that Linux (RHEL) is more energy efficient than Windows Server 2008.
To the blogger that wrote Why I love Windows 7, hate Linux, and think the Mac is lame. At first your article peaked my then it left me annoyed. Thanks.
I am tired of articles like yours. You are the type of computer user I find akin to someone who gets behind the wheel of a car without ever taking driving lessons or reading the owners manual. Would you also use a chainsaw without reading the manual?
When you used Windows, I am positive you were a bumbling idiot, just like myself and the rest of the world when we first used a computer. What makes you think using Linux should come without a learning curve?
I love how you used the image of the old Linux boot-up screen. If you actually did your homework, you’d know the more polished Linux products are not like that. It’s been a couple years since I’ve seen that boot up screen. Hell, most boot up screens on Linux look much more sexy than the archaic one on Windows. Get with the times, man.
I’ll admit I enjoyed the nice jab at Mac users:
Although Windows users are practical folk and Linux devotees enjoy their technical ivory tower, Macintosh adherents tend to be frivolous time-wasters dazzled by cheap sensory effects.
Too true, too true. This comment ensures you are on my a-ok list. If you’re ever in town, I’ll buy you a beer.
About Linux devotees – although Ubuntu and other popular distro’s have made vast improvements to bringing a Desktop OS to the masses such that even a dimwit could use it, there are times when it helps to be a bit knowledgeable about Linux.
HOWEVER, the same is true for Windows and any other system. There are always times when you need to have some grey matter about the tools you use. Hence why you read the manuals for cars and chainsaws. But that’s where forums and chat rooms come in – of which thousands exist for both Windows and Linux and Mac. (I’m not sure where you come up with the notion that support for Linux isn’t as abundant as Windows). In fact, I find there are more options for support and the support is better with Linux than Windows. I often find free, real-time support for Linux!
As for the bit about how “Practical Folks” use Windows – us Linux techies will stand by the Mac time-wasters while we watch you get riddled with viruses, deal with ID theft after being hacked, constantly defrag your hard drive, and decipher the error code from your blue screens of death.
Oh, and if you aren’t worried about the future of your precious Windows and Microsoft company, you should be for this reason and this reason and this reason and the list just keeps growing.
There are many reasons why Linux will prevail over Windows. Even your own colleague thinks so. So all I can say is: who’s practical now, sucker?! Haha!
